2019 Ultimo Public School

Christmas in Pyrmont were delighted to be able to donate $20,000 from the 2019 event to Ultimo Public School to go towards the essential School Learning Support Officers.

At Ultimo Public School we provide personalised learning and support to a wide range of students with additional learning and support needs.

Some students are funded through the Integration Funding Support (IFS) model which aims to assist schools to provide adjustments for students with disability in mainstream classes who have moderate to high learning and support needs.

Support from Christmas in Pyrmont has allowed us to provide in-class support for students that may either have an identified or imputed mild to moderate disability and who do not have access the IFS model.

This money has been used to employ extra School Learning Support Officers (SLSO) who work under the direction and supervision of classroom teachers. They provide assistance to students in classrooms and in the playground. They have been able to provide assistance with:

·       school routines

·       classroom activities

·       social skills

·       the care and management of students with disability and additional learning and support needs.

The relationship between Christmas in Pyrmont and Ultimo Public School has had significant impact on the many students who have benefited from the targeted intervention and support that Christmas in Pyrmont Inc. has made possible.
