With the support from Christmas in Pyrmont Inc, we aim to continue to run the Emergency Relief Program to assist vulnerable members of our local community.
During the COVID pandemic government grants were available to help fund parts of this program, unfortunately government funding has ceased and due to the high cost of living that we are all experiencing, we continue to see many people requesting our support daily.
Since March 2020 through our Emergency Relief Program, we have been able to support more than 1600 people.
Our Emergency Relief Program offers the following services:
- CHEX community gift cards for those in our community experiencing financial disadvantage, these gift cards enable people to purchase goods and services suitable for their needs from partnering local businesses in Ultimo Pyrmont. - Food parcels from our Food Pantry that contain non-perishable food items as well as toiletries. These parcels support people in our community experiencing food insecurity. In addition, we offer express delivery of these parcels to those in our community unable to leave their home due to sickness or disability.
- An Information and Referral service that supports people experiencing complex circumstances such as homelessness, mental health issues, domestic violence, isolation, etc… we assess and refer clients to an appropriate service/organization that can support their needs in the long term.
Thanks to Christmas in Pyrmont we have been able to continue to offer these much needed services and we look forward continuing to work in collaboration for many years to come.
